Our theory site…….
As a class, we are creating a site that will connect all the readings from the course, making critical connections between the readings (internal) and to other sites (external). Our premise is that we can collectively build an understanding for digital theory based on the connections between their ideas.
Here are the steps…..
1. Create your account password through the link I sent you. Log into your account (bottom right of this screen).
2. Edit your profile (avatar) image. Dashboard -> Profile (see top right of this page). It may take a few minuets and refreshes to appear.
3. Find your author in the list to the right. This will be YOUR page to edit. You are to only edit your page!
- Everyone will use their assigned reading whether they have presented or not.
- If you have not presented and would like to set up a time to discuss your reading with me email. If not, I will assume you understand the concepts of the reading.
4. Carefully analyze the logic of your article. Any text can be broken into a sequence of component ideas. You are to develop a sequence of 12-18 ideas from your reading. They are to be 1 or 2 word ideas. Each idea should be accompanied by a descriptive image.
5. Briefly describe each idea in a minimum of 40 words.
6. For your reading, you must indicate 3 links to specific ideas in other readings from this course (internal). As well as, 3 links to (external) websites for any ideas in the sequence. There is a link button on the editing toolbar. Make all links orange.
7. A HARDCOPY draft of your ideas is due on Friday February 27th in my mailbox! At this point you should have all of your ideas listed and have developed a rough version of most descriptions of your ideas. The draft contributes to your overall grade as well!
8. Your theory page MUST be finalized by Friday March 6th at 5pm!
9. By Tuesday March 17th you are to comment on 5 of the pages created by your peers. Your comments are to make critical connections between ideas of the readings and ideas we have covered in class. If these are posed as questions elaborate on the ideas it is referring to. Each comment is to be a minimum of 50 words in length. Use the Rely Box on the bottom of each page.
Other Notes:
- If you have questions or run into problems with the assignment there is a tab to the right titled Questions. Use this page to ask your question. It’s likely someone has a similar question as you and this way we can work out kinks as a class.
- The Benjamin page is completed as an example.
- As you develop your page, continually update your page (top right of your edit screen), so you don’t lose any work.
